Comments:
The BRDM-2 is a fully armoured, four-wheel-drive, amphibious reconnaissance vehicle. It has two-pairs of belly wheels and a centralized tire pressure regulation system for increased cross-country capability. The BRDM-2 has a box-like hull with a boat-shaped bow. The engine is mounted in the vehicle rear and there is a small conical turret mounted on the hull above the belly wheels. The driver sits at the front of the hull on the left with the vehicle commander to his right. To enter the vehicle, the crew must climb through two roof hatches. The hull, which is constructed of welded steel, provides the crew with protection from small arms and shell splinters. The turret, which is very similar to that of the BTR-60PB and Czechoslovakian OT-64, is located in the center of the vehicle and is armed with a 14.5mm KPVT MG with a 7.62-mm PKT MG.
On either side of the hull adjacent to the crew position, there is a firing port. Immediately behind the firing port are three vision blocks which protrude from the outside of the hull, giving some vision to the front and rear of the vehicle. The belly-wheels are chain driven and are lowered by the driver and give the BRDM-2 improved cross-country performance and the ability to cross ditches. The driver can adjust the tire pressure on all four tires or individual tires while the vehicle is in motion to adjust to the ground conditions. The BRDM-2 is fully amphibious and is propelled in the water by a single water jet at the rear of the hull. The vehicle has an over pressure NBC system. The BRDM-2 is equipped with infrared driving and search lights, a radio and an inertial land navigation system. At the front of the vehicle is a winch which has 30m of cable and has a maximum load of 4000 kg (8818.5 lbs).

just for testing

This has been under the cloaks for quite a while, but I thought I might just give out the code, so that maybe someone can come up with a better one, improve upon this, or just start using it for their own blogs! The main thought behind this was the fact that many people were complaining how expandable posts tutorials were incomplete, as in that the link would appear everywhere to view the whole post (even with the whole post). I thought up of a way which might just add a second to page load times, but gives a much cleaner result. You can see it working on the first few posts here.

Working

What the code does is run through your post content, and look for [hide]...[/hide] containers. It then replaces it with normal HTML tags to hide the part contained within those, and create a link to make that part visible. Once clicked, the link disappears. The problem is that you can't hide the post again (not yet atleast). I am sure that shouldn't be too much of a hindrance.This has been under the cloaks for quite a while, but I thought I might just give out the code, so that maybe someone can come up with a better one, improve upon this, or just start using it for their own blogs! TEST

How can I create expandable post summaries?

With this trick, you can choose to display an arbitrary amount of text from the beginning of each post, as a teaser for the whole thing. Then users who want to read the rest of the post can click a link to see the full text. This is handy if you have lots of long articles all on one page. Note that you'll need to have post pages enabled in order to make this feature work.

There are three ingredients that go into this feature: conditional CSS, a "read more" link for each post, and a modification for the posts that use this feature. So let's go through it step by step.

Conditional CSS

We're going to use conditional tags to change how posts display on different pages. Add the following code to your style sheet, depending on what kind of template you have:

(for classic templates)

span.fullpost {display:none;}

span.fullpost {display:inline;}

(for layouts)

span.fullpost {display:inline;}

span.fullpost {display:none;}
Your style sheet is usually near the top of yo

TEST

Jornada left a comment in my blog that he found a blog which explained how to show expandable post summaries with Beta. Good thing about showing only post summary in the main page is that your readers can quickly find all that you have written about. Also, your blog gets an 'online journal'-like neat look. A "Read more" link is provided which takes them to the post page to read the entire post. Please note that you, as the author, have the flexibility to choose the portion of your post that appears as summary.

This hack is only an adaptation of Blogger's original instructions for expandable post summaries to Beta template. You can find Jornada's post about this here. I thought I will re-post the instructions with minor modifications for my readers
